0.3 Research Questions and Objectives

As is stated above,we are short of systematic studies on translation criticism around the world and studies on criticism of literary translation are even more inadequate.In this book,the authors choose to make criticism of literary translation as the object of their study.In order to get more insight into the research object,they intend first to examine the following questions: 1),what do we mean by“translation” and “literary translation”? 2),what are the essences of “criticism”,“translation criticism”,“literary criticism” and “criticism of literary translation”? 3),where we are in the studies of translation criticism and criticism of literary translation? 4),what are the main factors that have led to the current crisis of criticism of literary translation? They then intend to investigate how we can resolve the crisis and better our study of criticism of literary translation in light of evaluation theories and axiology in general.And this again leads them to investigate into the objectives,the principles,the criteria and the methodology and the properties of criticism of literary translation in light of evaluation theories and axiology in general.This research aims at making the study of criticism of literary translation more systematic and scientific by finding answers to the above-raised questions and by offering an axiological approach to criticism of literary translation.It is meant as an endeavor to make some contribution to the establishment of a subject of metacriticism of literary translation.
